Microsoft waves goodbye to major Windows updates with August release

Microsoft confirmed Tuesday that the next update to Windows 8.1 will take place on August 12, but said that users should expect future, minor updates on a steady cadence rather than intermittent milestone updates.  In fact, the updates on August 12 will simply be part of “Update Tuesday.”
